Mr Chris Floyd

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you both personally and on behalf of Catholic Charities of Florida and the Florida VOAD for the excellent results you helped us accomplish with the statewide Hurricane Exercise John Paul drill.

Your skills at disaster exercise design were central to the success for the Catholic Charities 2009 exercise that, as you know, we greatly expanded this year (2009) to include a much larger number of sites and participants, including Florida VOAD. For the record, we totaled 327 separate location participants across Florida, involving about 70% of the state’s counties. Introducing extensive use of Internet connectivity to facilitate statewide coordination was a home-run innovation on your part. It allowed access and participation in the exercise for many who might otherwise have not taken part. From it, we learned a lot. In summary, numerous agencies and organizations took part in Hurricane John Paul Drill including county emergency management, the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, United Way, numerous participants from the Amateur Radio Relay League, and, of course, Catholic Charities agencies from around the state.

Again, thank you for your work and we look forward your continued involvement in Florida VOAD meetings, activities and exercises. We value your membership. Please feel free to use this correspondence as a separate testimonial to your skills and dedication.
