This exercise will serve as an opportunity for public health agencies along with their local community partners to collaborate in meeting the health care needs of victims while re-establishing community health systems following a flood.

During this exercise public health staff and management along with representatives from local community partners will work together as a unified team to meet the challenges associated with meeting the community’s health care needs in the aftermath of a significant flood.

Caduceus Shield Exercise Initiative

The Recovery Readiness – A Public Health Functional Exercise is part of the national Caduceus Shield Exercise Initiative.

Exercise Scenario

Soil conditions are nearly saturated across the region due to recent rains.

A late season frontal boundary has stalled across the state and a low pressure system has developed just south of the front. The low is forecast to strengthen and move through the area over the next 72 hours bringing a serious threat for excessive rainfall across the region.

A Flood Watch has been issued by the local forecast office of the National Weather Service through 5:00PM Saturday.

Exercise Participation Information

Your agency or organization can participate in this exercise for $600.
For information about participating in this exercise please complete an Information Request Form. Upon completing the form you will be contacted and provided with additional information.
Once your agency or organization is approved it will appear on the list of participating agencies and organizations.

Participation Information
Flood Register Now ** From a conference room or similar location via the ONX System as part of your organization’s Incident Management Team
* Everyone who will be participating in the exercise must register for the following reasons:
  1. Prior to the exercise important Read Ahead materials will be e-mailed to all registered participants. These materials are important to ensure your participation in the exercise is successful.
  2. At the end of the exercise only registered participants will be able to complete and submit their individual exercise evaluation (Hotwash).
  3. Only registered participants will be able to access and print their Certificate of Participation once they have submitted their individual exercise evaluation.
** Prior to registering you should make sure that your agency or organization is on the list of approved participating agencies and organizations.
