This exercise will serve as an opportunity for the staff and management of skilled nursing, residential care, assisted living and long term care facilities to work together as part of their facility’s Disaster Response Team to prepare for and maintain operations during a severe winter weather event.

Caduceus Shield Exercise Initiative

The Operation Deep Freeze – An Assisted Living Facility COOP Tabletop Exercise is part of the national Caduceus Shield Exercise Initiative.

Exercise Scenario

The local Forecast Office of the National Weather Service has just issued a Winter Storm Watch for the region. A severe winter storm is predicted to move through the state within the next 12 to 36 hours.

As residents throughout the state begin to brace themselves for what is predicted to be record setting sleet, freezing rain and snowfall the National Weather Service issues a Winter Storm Warning.

Exercise Participation Information

Your residential care or skilled nursing facility can participate in this exercise for $600.
For information about participating in this exercise please complete an Information Request Form. Upon completing the form you will be contacted and provided with additional information.

Participation Information
Severe Winter Storm Registration will open once the exercise is scheduled From a conference room or similar location via the ONX System as part of your facility’s Incident Management Team
* Everyone who will be participating in the exercise must register for the following reasons:
  1. Prior to the exercise important Read Ahead materials will be e-mailed to all registered participants. These materials are important to ensure your participation in the exercise is successful.
  2. At the end of the exercise only registered participants will be able to complete and submit their individual exercise evaluation (Hotwash).
  3. Only registered participants will be able to access and print their Certificate of Participation once they have submitted their individual exercise evaluation.
