This exercise will serve as an opportunity for community, rural and tribal Healthcare Centers to assess their Continuity of Operation Plan (COOP) capabilities. Exercise participants will work through scenario information and injects dealing with the activities associated with preparing for, responding to and recovering from a severe winter storm.

Caduceus Shield Exercise Initiative

The Operation Crystal Palace – A Healthcare Center Tabletop Exercise is part of the national Caduceus Shield Exercise Initiative.

Exercise Scenario

The local forecast office of the National Weather Service has just issued a Winter Storm Watch for the region. The storm is predicted to move through the area within the next 12 to 36 hours.

As residents throughout the community served by the Healthcare Center begin to brace themselves for what is predicted to be a record setting snowfall, the National Weather Service issues a Winter Storm Warning.

Exercise Participation Information

Your Healthcare Center can participate in this exercise for $600.
For information about participating in this exercise please complete an Information Request Form. Upon completing the form you will be contacted and provided with additional information.

Participation Information
Winter Storm Registration will open once the exercise is scheduled From a conference room or similar location via the ONX System as part of your Healthcare Center’s Incident Management Team
* Everyone that will be participating in the exercise must register for the following reasons:
  1. Prior to the exercise important Read Ahead materials will be e-mailed to all registered participants. These materials are important to ensure your participation in the exercise is successful.
  2. At the end of the exercise only registered participants will be able to complete and submit their individual exercise evaluation (Hotwash).
  3. Only registered participants will be able to access and print their Certificate of Participation once they have submitted their individual exercise evaluation.
