This exercise will serve as an opportunity for the management and staff that makes up your Hospital Incident Command Team to work through scenario information and a number of injects dealing with maintaining hospital operations as hospital employees begin refusing to work due to an severe infectious disease.

The Force Realization – A Hospital Workforce Disruption Tabletop Exercise is part of the national Caduceus Shield Exercise Initiative.

Exercise Scenario

As the worst flu season on record continues to worsen, national news outlets continue to report that this year’s vaccine is less than 10% effective. This year’s strain of the flu has an extremely high mortality rate affecting people of all ages.

The leadership of local and state Healthcare Associations and Unions are stressing to their membership to be extremely cautious when assisting individuals with flu-like symptoms. Several associations are going as far to recommend that their members consider not reporting to work if they feel their personal and family safety could be at risk.

Exercise Participation Information

Your hospital can participate in this exercise for $600.
For information about participating in this exercise please complete an Information Request Form. Upon completing the form you will be contacted and provided with additional information.

Participation Information
Workforce Disruption Registration will open once the exercise is scheduled From a conference room or similar location via the ONX System as part of your Hospital’s Incident Command Team
* Everyone who will be participating in the exercise must register for the following reasons:
  1. Prior to the exercise important Read Ahead materials will be e-mailed to all registered participants. These materials are important to ensure your participation in the exercise is successful.
  2. At the end of the exercise only registered participants will be able to complete and submit their individual exercise evaluation (Hotwash).
  3. Only registered participants will be able to access and print their Certificate of Participation once they have submitted their individual exercise evaluation.
