The purpose of this exercise is to provide an opportunity for agencies and organizations assigned pet friendly sheltering lead and support roles to work as a team to assess their ability to open, manage and close a Pet Friendly Shelter.

During this exercise participants will have the opportunity to identify strengths and areas needing improvement regarding local pet friendly sheltering plans and procedures via a series of informational scenarios and injects.

Exercise Scenario

Soil conditions are nearly saturated across the region due to recent rains.

A late season frontal boundary has stalled across the state and a low pressure system has developed just south of the front. The low is forecast to strengthen and move through the area over the next 72 hours bringing a serious threat for excessive rainfall across the region.

A Flood Watch has been issued by the local forecast office of the National Weather Service through 5:00PM Saturday.

Your agency or organization can participate in this exercise for $600.

Participation Information
Flood Registration will open once the exercise is scheduled From a training room or similar location via the ONX System as part of your organization’s Pet Friendly Shelter Management Team
* Everyone who will be participating in the exercise must register for the following reasons:
  1. Prior to the exercise important Read Ahead materials will be e-mailed to all registered participants. These materials are important to ensure your participation in the exercise is successful.
  2. At the end of the exercise only registered participants will be able to complete and submit their individual exercise evaluation (Hotwash).
  3. Only registered participants will be able to access and print their Certificate of Participation once they have submitted their individual exercise evaluation.
