This exercise will serve as an opportunity for the management and staff that make up your Incident Command Team to work through scenario information and injects dealing with the numerous challenges associated with managing the consequences of a shooting incident occurring on your campus.

Campus Shield Exercise Initiative

The Academic Adversity – An Active Shooter Consequence Management Tabletop Exercise is part of the national Campus Shield Exercise Initiative.

Exercise Scenario

At 9:18AM, a junior history student, armed with a pump action shotgun and two hand guns, walked into a campus classroom building and began firing at students who were in between classes.

In an 18 minute shooting rampage, a total of 11 students, 3 staff and 2 professors were killed and 23 others injured before the lone gunman was shot and killed by law enforcement.

Your institution now faces a myriad of challenges as it begins to manage its recovery from the shooting.

Exercise Participation Information

Your university or college can participate in this exercise for $600.

Participation Information
Active Shooter Registration will open once the exercise is scheduled From a conference room or similar location via the ONX System as part of your organization’s Incident Management Team
* Everyone who will be participating in the exercise must register for the following reasons:
  1. Prior to the exercise important Read Ahead materials will be e-mailed to all registered participants. These materials are important to ensure your participation in the exercise is successful.
  2. At the end of the exercise only registered participants will be able to complete and submit their individual exercise evaluation (Hotwash).
  3. Only registered participants will be able to access and print their Certificate of Participation once they have submitted their individual exercise evaluation.
