Hi Chris, I wanted to thank you for inviting us to participate in the Workplace Down Active Shooter Tabletop exercise today. In addition to representatives from Panhandle Health District, the Medical Reserve Corps of North Idaho, the Region 1 North Idaho Health Care Coalition, our 28 participants were from 3 schools, 3 hospitals, the Juvenile Detention Center, the Coeur d’Alene Tribe and Tribal School, the Coeur d’Alene Casino, the Salvation Army KROC Center and Union Gospel Mission. These facilities have combined staffs of about 2,500 and clients of 42,000 on any given day.

We all thought the exercise was well planned out, and appreciated the video of Police Chief Ray Schultz, who gave an excellent overview of the Emcore shooting event – that was really helpful in setting the scene. The video that simulated the active shooter event in our exercise was great, and showed the actions unfolding in different locations, and the chaos that ensues. The injects that followed generated animated discussions among our attendees and brought out good suggestions for dealing with an active shooter. I think everyone went away learning something, and making plans to update their own response plans.

What a great way to end National Preparedness month!

Thanks again!
