To Whom It May Concern
Part of my responsibilities as director of the Leon County Volunteer Center-VolunteerLEON is the establishment and coordination of a Volunteer Reception Center to recruit and place spontaneous volunteers with community disaster response organizations. This year, we wanted to test our ability to use the internet to connect volunteers with needs to make “real time matches.” We engaged Chris Floyd as a consultant to design and facilitate Hurricane Helper – a Cyber Access VRC Tabletop Exercise in order to assess the viability of an internet based Volunteer Reception Center portal.
Chris has created an application to assist in the development, facilitation and evaluation of tabletop exercises that are compliant with Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) guidelines. Known as the ON-line eXercise (ONX) System this powerful internet based application provided the intuitive web-based system which exceeded all expectations of the exercise. Chris’s successful delivery on the web, drew participants from across the nation. During the exercise itself, Chris’s technical support and his depth of knowledge along with his ability to present solutions were the driving force behind the success of the exercise.
It is my considered opinion that Chris’s innovation and assistance has us heading into the 2010 Hurricane Season confident in our abilities to be able to successfully match volunteers with disaster related opportunities quickly and efficiently saving us time and money. I highly recommend contacting Chris for any disaster related exercises. We would like to commend his work and look forward to additional opportunities to work with him.
