The Taylor County Emergency Management Department undertook an effort to develop, conduct and evaluate an exercise entitled “Taylor Twister – A Tornado Response Tabletop Exercise”.

This exercise served as an opportunity for Taylor County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members to work through scenario information and injects dealing a tornado striking the area.

During the exercise participants will assessed their ability to work together as an effective team of volunteers.

Exercise Scenario

It is the middle of June and the severe weather moving through the area prompts the National Weather Service to issue a Tornado Watch for the region.

At 4:02PM, meteorologists at the National Weather Service notice what appears to be the formation of a tornado on their Doppler weather radar. They immediately issue a Tornado Warning.

Over the next 30 minutes, numerous Tornado Warnings are issued throughout the area.

Exercise Conclusion

The Taylor Twister Tabletop Exercise was facilitated on June 1, 2017, at the Taylor County Emergency Operations Center in Perry Florida.
