This exercise will serve as an opportunity for public health agencies along with their local community partners to collaborate in meeting the health care needs of victims while re-establishing community health systems following a tornado.
During this exercise public health staff and management along with representatives from local community partners will work together as a unified team to meet the challenges associated with meeting the community’s health care needs in the aftermath of a significant tornado.
Caduceus Shield Exercise Initiative
The Recovery Readiness – A Public Health Functional Exercise is part of the national Caduceus Shield Exercise Initiative.
It is late May and the severe weather associated with a line of thunderstorms moving through the area prompts the local forecast office of the National Weather Service to issue a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the region at 12:27PM on a Friday.
As the line of thunderstorms continues to intensify as it moves through the region the local forecast office of the National Weather Service issues a Tornado Watch for the area.
At 2:17PM, meteorologists at the local forecast office of the National Weather Service identify a thunderstorm on their Doppler weather radar capable of producing a tornado. They immediately issue a Tornado Warning.
Your agency or organization can participate in this exercise for $600.
