This exercise will serve as an opportunity for public health agencies to assess their ability to establish, manage and demobilize a Point of Dispensing (POD) in response to a Phase 6 Influenza Pandemic.

During this exercise staff and management will work together as a unified team to meet the challenges associated with dispensing antiviral drugs to the community’s residents.

Caduceus Shield Exercise Initiative

The Operation POD Squad – A Point of Dispensing Functional Exercise is part of the national Caduceus Shield Exercise Initiative.

Exercise Scenario

An outbreak of unusually severe respiratory illness is identified in a small village in southern China. Over the next 45 to 60 days the outbreak becomes a devastating Phase 6 Influenza Pandemic affecting communities throughout the United States.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) releases the antiviral drugs contained within the Strategic National Stockpile.

Participation Information
Influenza Pandemic Registration will open once the exercise is scheduled From a conference room or similar location via the ONX System as part of your organization’s Incident Management Team
* Everyone who will be participating in the exercise must register for the following reasons:
  1. Prior to the exercise important Read Ahead materials will be e-mailed to all registered participants. These materials are important to ensure your participation in the exercise is successful.
  2. At the end of the exercise only registered participants will be able to complete and submit their individual exercise evaluation (Hotwash).
  3. Only registered participants will be able to access and print their Certificate of Participation once they have submitted their individual exercise evaluation.
