This exercise will serve as an opportunity for the management and staff that make up your school and / or school district’s Incident Command Team along with your community’s response agencies to work through scenario information and injects dealing with an tornado striking one of the district’s schools.
Campus Shield Exercise Initiative
The Operation Sudden School Storm – A Tornado Response Tabletop Exercise is part of the national Campus Shield Exercise Initiative.
Exercise Scenario
It is early May and the severe weather associated with a cold front moving through the region prompts the local Forecast Office of the National Weather Service to issue a Tornado Watch for the region from 4:00AM until 12:00PM.
At 10:11AM, meteorologists at the National Weather Service notice what appears to be the formation of a tornado on their Doppler weather radar. They immediately issue a Tornado Warning.
Over the next several hours, numerous Tornado Warnings are issued throughout the area.
