This exercise will serve as an opportunity for the management and staff that make up your Hospital Incident Command Team to work through scenario information and a number of injects dealing with maintaining appropriate patient care while evacuating your hospital following an earthquake.
Caduceus Shield Exercise Initiative
The Operational Maneuvers – A Hospital Evacuation Tabletop Exercise is part of the national Caduceus Shield Exercise Initiative.
Exercise Scenario
At 1:37PM on a Sunday residents throughout the area begin to feel the ground roll and shake. Initial seismic reports indicate that a 6.9 magnitude earthquake occurred along the area’s major fault.
Following the earthquake facilities management conducts an inspection of the hospital to determine if it is safe to remain in the building.
Upon completing the inspection, facilities management meets with members of the Hospital Incident Command Team to share their findings.
Due to the structural damage that was caused by the earthquake the decision is made to evacuate the hospital.
Exercise Participation Information
Your hospital can participate in this exercise for $600.
