This exercise will serve as an opportunity for the management and staff that make up your Hospital Incident Command Team to work through scenario information and injects dealing with the numerous challenges associated with managing the consequences of a shooting incident occurring within your hospital.

Caduceus Shield Exercise Initiative

The Medical Mayhem – An Active Shooter Consequence Management Tabletop Exercise is part of the national Caduceus Shield Exercise Initiative.

Exercise Scenario

Following a 5 minute Emergency Department rampage and a 2 hour standoff with the police department’s Rapid Response Team (RRT) a lone gunman fatally shoots himself.

In all, 9 hospital staff members, 3 bystanders along with 2 patients were killed with 14 other individuals injured.

The hospital now faces a myriad of challenges as it begins to manage its recovery from the shooting.

Exercise Participation Information

Your hospital can participate in this exercise for $600.
 
For information about participating in this exercise please complete an Information Request Form. Upon completing the form you will be contacted and provided with additional information.

Participation Information
Active Shooter Registration will open once the exercise is scheduled From a conference room or similar location via the ONX System as part of your Hospital’s Incident Command Team
* Everyone who will be participating in the exercise must register for the following reasons:
  1. Prior to the exercise important Read Ahead materials will be e-mailed to all registered participants. These materials are important to ensure your participation in the exercise is successful.
  2. At the end of the exercise only registered participants will be able to complete and submit their individual exercise evaluation (Hotwash).
  3. Only registered participants will be able to access and print their Certificate of Participation once they have submitted their individual exercise evaluation.
