This exercise will serve as an opportunity for the management and staff that make up your Hospital Incident Command Team to work through scenario information and injects dealing with activities associated with a medical surge involving a severe weather related downburst and commercial fire.

The County Fair Chaos – A Hospital Surge Tabletop Exercise is part of the national Caduceus Shield Exercise Initiative.

Exercise Scenario

Saturday – 6:17PM

The hospital’s ED has just received the following report from the local Public Safety Access Point (PSAP).

There has been an accident at the fair involving multiple individuals.

Fair employees were in the process of canceling the closing show as dark clouds began moving over the fairgrounds. Then, what appeared to be a sudden microburst toppled the stage causing a numerous injuries.

The PSAP reports that 911 calls are still being received from fair-goers.

Participation Information
Hospital Surge Registration will open once the exercise is scheduled From a conference room or similar location via the ONX System as part of your Hospital’s Incident Command Team
* Everyone who will be participating in the exercise must register for the following reasons:
  1. Prior to the exercise important Read Ahead materials will be e-mailed to all registered participants. These materials are important to ensure your participation in the exercise is successful.
  2. At the end of the exercise only registered participants will be able to complete and submit their individual exercise evaluation (Hotwash).
  3. Only registered participants will be able to access and print their Certificate of Participation once they have submitted their individual exercise evaluation.
